More rainfall needed in drought-affected northern KZN
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The uMkhanyakude District Municipality in northern KZN says much more rain is still needed - despite dam levels increasing recently.
Mayor Solomon Mkhombo says a significant amount of rain has been recorded in the Manguzi, Jozini, uMkhuze and Hlabisa areas.
Mkhombo has been speaking to Newswatch from the KZN Cabinet Lekgotla in Durban.
He says the rainfall associated with the storm Dineo has been welcome, and has not caused any damage in the area.

However, some rural access roads have been affected. The mayor says reservoirs are at a decent level.
"In terms of replenishing natural resources which our wildlife and our livestock depends on - so it is a good thing. Because once they get dried up, our formal reservoirs or water storage gets constrained because we all rely on them," he said.
