More than 1,000 arrested in KZN crime blitz

KwaZulu-Natal police say they have made more than a thousand arrests in
operations over the past two weeks.
SAPS spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says suspects were nabbed for an array of crimes -- including attempted murder, carjacking, public violence, fraud and domestic violence, among other things.

Mbele says officers also cracked down on those who have allegedly been selling liquor without the necessary licenses.
She says the suspects appeared in different courts across the province.
“Others were fined,” she said.

Mbele stressed the importance of community involvement in riding the streets of criminal elements.
