Mom, 21, charged with baby's murder appears in court

A 21-year-old woman who confessed that she strangled her 11-month-old son, to death, is spending the weekend behind bars.
Nomfundo Thobekile Khanyile was remanded in custody after appearing in court on the KZN north coast.
Khanyile is expected back in the Maphumulo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to apply for bail.
She was arrested at her home on Monday after police arrived to investigate the missing child case that was reported to them.

Khanyile had first told in her family that her son had disappeared.
Police say when the young mother was questioned by the officer her story did not add up.
She then apparently caved in and admitted killing the baby and throwing his body into a pit toilet after an argument with her boyfriend.
