Magaqa and two other councillors - Nonsikelelo Mafa and Jabulile Mzizi-Msiya were shot at while travelling in Magaqa's vehicle in July.

Magaqa, who was a former ANC Youth League Secretary, General died in September after two months in hospital.

Mafa and Mzizi-Msiya survived the attack.

Mzizi-Msiya gave testimony at the commission of inquiry today.

She says shortly before the attack - Magaqa had told her about a hit list that contained their names - as well as those of two other councillors who've been killed.

Testifying through an interpreter, Mzizi-Msiya painted a picture of the events that unfolded on the day of the shooting, two weeks after she became aware of the hit list.

"On the day of the attack, I am the one who came out of my car. Comrade Magaqa and Nsiki were inside theirs. After we were talking and laughing, we heard Magaqa saying we must not move. We heard gunshots. They were being fired at him at the front and then at us," she says.

Mzizi-Msiya says since the attack, they have received no protection.

"Our main concern is that even now - we would see an unknown car following us. The council has not provided security for us. We believe the delays might lead to us being attacked again," she says.
