Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Social workers have
removed three children from their home in the KZN Midlands and taken them to a
place of safety after their mother and grandmother were killed by a mob in
Matimatolo.

The KZN Department of Social Development says they were accused of practising witchcraft.
Spokesperson Mhlaba Memela says the women were assaulted and their home set alight on Tuesday.
The three children and a man survived the attack.

"They were taken to a place of safety where they were provided with pyshco-social support. It's one of the painful cases that we have dealt with this week where people continue to upset others claiming that they are practising witchcraft but we have heard that some of the suspects in that group were arrested."
