Mnangagwa to be elected as Zimbabwe's interim president
Zimbabwe's new interim president is due to be appointed later after Robert Mugabe's resignation yesterday.
Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to serve as the country's leaders until elections next year.
The speaker of the Zimbabwean parliament confirmed Mugabe's resignation shortly before 6pm yesterday.
This after MPs debated Mugabe's possible impeachment after the 93-year-old's party tabled the motion.
The country's former Finance Minister, Tendai Biti hopes that President Robert Mugabe's resignation ushers in a new chapter for Zim.
He says when they first heard that Mugabe was stepping down - it seemed too good to be true.

"Never again will we allow another person to basically capture the state and our lives," he says.
Meanwhile, it's been a night of celebrations in the country. In the capital Harare, people flooded the streets - dancing and singing to express their joy.
"I'm finally happy. Thank you Lord - thank you, Jesus Christ," This man, who was in tears, said.
This man has told Sky News they're looking forward to a better future.

"Our country is going to be different - our relations all over the world are going to be normalised. We are a peace-loving country," he says.
Political parties have mostly welcomed the decision by Mugabe to step down.
The DA has described his resignation as a victory for the people of Zim but has accused the ruling ZANU-PF of being complicit in wrongdoing by the Mugabe regime.
The EFF says people around the world should to accept the settlement reached by Mugabe and the ruling party which includes full immunity for him and his family.
It's advised Zimbabweans not to undo the land program or return the land to white settler communities.
