MKMVA distances itself from ongoing protests in Durban
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
MK Vets in KZN have distanced themselves from this morning's protest action in the Durban CBD, saying their members weren't given permission to take to the streets.

Some veterans began marching through the city centre, with the route being blocked to traffic from Tollgate Bridge.
The protesters have threatened to shut down parts of the province if their demands are not met. It's understood they are making their way to the provincial ANC offices.
But the Military Veterans Association says it did not authorise the demonstration.

It's released a statement saying members who take part in the protest do so independently.

PEC Provincial Secretary, Jazzman Mthembu has on their members not to join the demonstration.
He says none of them had raised grievances with the association.
"They are indeed our members but they didn’t come to speak to the structures of the organisation," says Mthembu.
We have always had an open policy for all members to address any issues with us."
