Jacob Zuma Foundation hits out at State Capture Commission
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Jacob Zuma Foundation says remarks made by the chairperson of the state capture commission Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo on the former presidents failure to appear before them is an attack, unjustified and prejudicial.
Earlier this week Zondo told the commission that he had received a letter from Zuma's attorneys stating that he would not make it to testify this week due to preparations for his criminal trial as well as his ill health.
The Deputy Chief Justice then ruled that Zuma will have to testify at the State Capture Commission of Inquiry in November adding that the dates were non-negotiable.
In a statement the foundation questioned why a press conference was not called when Public Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordhan refused to appear before the commission and said that there were inconsistencies with how Zondo handled those who simply chose not to appear.
The foundation says it's disappointed with Zondo's alleged obsession with Zuma and called for consistency with the treatment of witnesses.
