Mkhwebane: More politicians implicated in Vrede dairy farm scandal

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has confirmed that her Vrede dairy farm investigation is complete, although the release of the report has been delayed.

Mkhwebane released several reports on Wednesday.
In 2019, the High Court in Pretoria declared Mkhwebane's first report unconstitutional stating that her office failed to investigate the role of senior politicians in the fraudulent project.
Millions of Rands were paid to Estina, a private company linked to the Guptas, as part of a cancellation fee for the project despite work not done.

It also left the 80 emerging farmers, who were meant to benefit from the project, out in the cold.
"We have issued the Section 79's at the beginning of the month, and unfortunately there was a delay.
"We thought the matters were simple and would only involve Free State politicians. But we had to request affidavits from other politicians who have been implicated in this matter," Mkhwebane said at a media briefing in Pretoria.
She said her office is also relying on other law enforcement agencies and the Department of Home Affairs to complete their investigations.
