Mkhwebane to appear before Parliament
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Public Protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been summoned to appear before the Portfolio on Justice this week.
Portfolio Committee Chairperson, Dr. Mathole Motshekga says Mkhwebane needs to explain her public comments on her investigations into the Vrede Dairy project.
"We are getting conflicting messages as to what is happening - with regards to the investigation that she did on the farm in the Free State. We think that the office should not be dragged into controversy and we don't want that office to be tarnished so it will be better that they appear before the committee on Wednesday morning," he says.
Mkhwebane released her report into the project on Friday and found that proper tender processes were not followed.

But the report has been widely criticised with Mkhwebane being accused of ignoring the alleged involvement of free State Premier, Ace Magashule and the Guptas.
Motshekga says they will take state capture investigations carried out by the Hawks into consideration.
"According to them, these are matters of disciplinary action but from the Hawks it appears these are the matters that require criminal investigation," he says.
