Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says the National Coronavirus Command Council is expected to meet next week to look into a possible tightening of restrictions on gatherings.
Mkhize says he is not certain if President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation following next week's meeting.
The minister spoke to SABC's Morning Live on Friday morning.
He said tighter restrictions are set to be discussed at the meeting, amid the increase in the number of Covid-19 infections.

"We are going to recommend that there should be a more focus on the size of the gatherings and look at the focus of the measures released when we thought the situation is more improved."
South Africa reported a total of 3 221 new cases in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday, bringing the total number of infections to 1 605 252.
