MK Vets want Military Veterans Act amended, lifetime pension

MK vets who convoyed from Durban to the KZN Legislature on Wednesday say the Premier has agreed to meet with them to hear their grievances.

They handed over a memorandum of demands yesterday afternoon.


The vets caused delays on the N3 during peak hour traffic yesterday morning - as 40 of their cars moved at 40 km per hour towards Pietermaritzburg.

One of the members, Lwazi Mzobe says the protest is over a concept document based on a list of demands they presented to the President last year. 


"The outstanding issues are the R15 000-lifetime pension for the veterans and the issue of gratuity. It also includes the amendments of the military veteran's act. 


"Other matters include the SAPS - those who are from the liberation struggle of war veterans who have never been ranked and those in the army who have not been ranked.
