MK Party Youth League calls for scrapping of NSFAS
Updated | By Bulletin
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party Youth League is calling for the scrapping of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.
It says Africans are previously disadvantaged people, and as a result, they still suffer the humiliation of poverty because of the injustices of the past.
The league says it's standing in solidarity with the students at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, who are planning a total shutdown on Monday.
League spokesperson Nkateko Mkhabela says they want free education for all and that the government must fund that education.

"In 2017, President Jacob Zuma declared free education, which was then later reversed by Minister Blade Nzimande. Students are currently being financially excluded from having access and receiving education from higher education institutions such as the Witwatersrand University due to the compliance of NSFAS and the defunding of financially disadvantaged students."
