DUT students protest over NSFAS allowances

The Durban University of Technology has called for calm following demonstrations on its Durban campuses.
Videos circulated on social media show groups of students storming the campuses, breaking down gates and scuffling with security guards.

It's understood some students and lecturers were forced out of halls on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Institution says the protests were sparked primarily by the delays in the payment of some students' NSFAS allowances.
DUT says it's in daily contact with the financial aid scheme to try and resolve the hold-up.
