Misuzulu coronation date not yet finalised, says Buthelezi
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Traditional prime minister to the Zulu nation Mangosuthu Buthelezi has denied that a date has been finalised for the coronation of Prince Misuzulu kaZwelithini as monarch.
Buthelezi's denial follows the emergence of a letter, widely shared on social media, saying the coronation has been set down for 28 May.
The letter also confirms the attendance of President Cyril Ramaphosa at the event.
But Buthelezi said no formal announcement has been made.
"A formal announcement will be made by the traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation once the date of the coronation has been finalised," he said through his spokesperson Liezl van der Merwe.
"The President's availability is being discussed with His Majesty the King, the Royal Family and the Coronation Committee."

Last month, the High Court in Pietermaritzburg gave the green light for Prince Misuzulu to be crowned as the next Zulu king.
This follows a year-long family battle involving the late King Goodwill Zwelithini's first wife, Queen Sibongile Dlamini and her two daughters.
The family contested the validity of King Zwelithini's will and the move to install Prince Misuzulu as the next monarch.
