The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has confirmed it’s investigating a case of attempted murder after a shooting at Misty Hills Country Hotel in Muldersdrift.

The incident, which was caught on camera, saw Len Cloete shot in the head, allegedly by a police officer, during an argument at the hotel, west of Johannesburg.
In a video shared on social media, the half-naked guest can be seen shouting and swearing at police before being shot point-blank in the head by one of the officers
The man is in a coma.
“The case of attempted murder was opened but by not the family or the wife it is opened as per the state case, we are looking at the discharge of a firearm and the fact that the injury is severe, and the person is in a coma, it becomes an attempted murder,” said IPID spokesperson Grace Langa.
“We have collected statements from the wife and hotel staff. The firearms have been submitted for ballistic testing and when results are back, we will take the docket with recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecutions to decide on the matter.”
