Missing girl, 14, found in shallow grave in Pietermaritzburg

The murder of a 14-year-old girl is being investigated after her body was found in a shallow grave in Bishopstowe in Pietermaritzburg.
Locals made the discovery on Monday afternoon.
According to police, the girl went to a traditional ceremony on Saturday and never returned home.
KZN police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says the teenager was reported missing at the weekend.

"Yesterday [Monday] at 15:45, member of the community who was collecting building sand discovered the body and called for help.
"The Pietermaritzburg Search Rescue together with Bishopstowe police recovered the body in a shallow grave. It is alleged that the victim was strangled to death and buried in a shallow grave.
"A case of murder was opened at area in Bishopstowe police station for investigation."
