Ten-year-old friends, Luyanda Msomi and Njabulo Mankayi went missing on Tuesday afternoon shortly after the Grade 4 pupils left their school in Clairwood.

Luyanda's body was recovered from a dense bush in Montclair on Saturday.

This morning, Transnet pollution officers discovered Njabulo's body in a tunnel at the Durban Harbour.

The body that was found near the Grunter Gully Canal in Bayhead was positively identified by Mankayi's parents this morning.

It's come to light that one of the women arrested in connection with the boys deaths told police that she initially dumped Mankayi's body in the canal off the M7.

The body then floated several kilometers to where it was found. The badly decomposed body was removed by pathologists just after midday.

The suspect allegedly told detectives that she poisoned the boys and strangled one.

KZN police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says they are still awaiting the post-mortem results to establish the cause of death in both cases.

A 28-year-old woman has appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court for the murder of Mankayi and Msomi.

The NPA's Natasha Ramkisson Kara says the case has been postponed to next week.

"The accused was remanded into custody until November 20 for her to secure an attorney. She faces two counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping and assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm," she says.
