Police say the missing girl is presumed drowned.
The police's Thembeka Mbhele says the search is being intensified. "They have been there since six o'clock in the morning trying to find the body but they are still searching, the body is still not found. Now they are searching on the edges of the beach and the helicopter will also be called out to the scene if they are failing to find the body," she said.
The public has been advised not to swim in dangerous conditions and without lifeguards on duty - especially with the festive season fast approaching.
