Mohamed Ebrahim was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Durban High Court on Wednesday.

He was handed a further 18 months for theft and eight years for kidnapping.

Ebrahim killed Miguel in 2018.

Prosecutors called it a revenge attack - Ebrahim claimed to have been in a relationship with her.

Miguel's aunt, Tasneem Dos Santos says they're happy with the judgement.

"There's monsters out there that can still walk around and act like innocent after taking an innocent person's life.

"Even not standing up and telling us and giving the family closure, what transpired, what happened and why he did what he did.

"It's emotional and so much more heartbreaking knowing that they'll never know exactly what was the motive," says Miguel's aunt, Tasneem Dos Santos.

She says they're happy with the judgement.

"We hope this is an example to someone out there that thinks of doing what [he] did to us, and robbed an innocent child of his life."
