Mid-year matric exams postponed
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The mid-year school exams won't be taking place this year.
During a virtual briefing to Parliament's Portfolio and Select Committees on Education - the Basic Education Department's Director-General Mathanzima Mweli said for matrics - the May/June exams would be moved towards the end of the year.
He says the department has been trying to find ways to mitigate the disruption to the curriculum by the coronavirus pandemic.
"There won't be May/June exams, but in terms of the NSC we are combining them with the November/December exams. The usual June exam will not happen; we will use this time for teaching. Preparatory exams in September will still happen. The timetable will also be affected," he said.
