Meyiwa trial postponed as second docket handed to defence

The second docket apparently contains the name of Meyiwa's then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo and others.

The NPA has, however, only formally charged Muzi Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Mncube, Mthokozisi Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli for the goalkeeper's murder. 

Mshololo told the court on Wednesday that the state has brought the court into disrepute. 

"The person who has put this court and trial into shame is the state who failed to disclose such crucial information and decided to charge the accused, who are before this court after they have charged other people," she said.

"I am seeking clarity on that and I am being told that there is no need to seek for a longer postponement so that I can continue with this witness. My lord, that is unfair, and that is very wrong coming from the state." 

The trial has been postponed to Monday after two exhibits were presented to Mshololo at the eleventh hour.

Exhibit C is an indictment, while exhibit D is docket number two that charges the seven people who were in the house at the time that Meyiwa was killed. 

They are Sello "Chicco" Twala's son Longwe, Kelly Khumalo, Gladness Khumalo, Zandile Khumalo, Tumelo Madlala, Mthokozisi Thwala and Maggie Phiri. 

All seven have been charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice. 

Mshololo slammed the state for holding on to such crucial information.

"The gross irregularity that has been made by the state in this case. We have been made to plead before this court when we were not in possession of such crucial information wherein the other people who have been charged in this case and we have already pleaded."
