Last week, police officer Sizwe Zungu made damning revelations in court about all of the five men that stand accused of the footballer’s murder.

Zungu told the court he met the accused on the day Meyiwa was shot and killed in October 2014 after his nephew invited him to spend the day with him at a hostel in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Zungu claims accused, one, two and three left and returned later in the evening with shocked expressions on their faces.

He told the court two of them had guns on them.

On Friday, Advocate Charles Mnisi, the defence lawyer for accused three, told court that he would not proceed with Zungu's cross-examination until he is shown his original statement.

Zungu told court he has a written statement of his evidence.

But he could not produce it on Monday as ordered by the court, saying it had been destroyed.

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng ruled that the cross-examination of Zungu should proceed.

"The courts has utilised its discretion to decide whether certain evidence is essential or not. In the exercise of its discretion which cannot be interfered with, if it is exercised judiciously, this court finds that no written statement exists."
