Meyer says 10-year delayed TB unit almost completed
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works says the construction of a TB unit at King Dinuzulu Hospital is nearing completion.

MEC Martin Meyer says the R154 million project was stalled over a decade ago following disruptions by construction mafias, among other issues.
He conducted an oversight to assess work being done at the healthcare facility this week.

"The previous contractor of the TB site company went insolvent in 2011 and due to severe monitory constraints at the time, the project could only be revived last year. It’s very unfortunate there had to be an over ten-year delay."
He says the unit is 70 per cent finished with patients expected to be treated by May next year.
