Thousands of people are expected to march on the streets of Durban today, in protest over job losses and retrenchments in the public and private sectors.

The march forms part of Cosatu's nationwide strike. In Durban, some 4000 protesters are expected to walk from King Dinuzulu Park to City Hall.
Metro Police say all measures are in place to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad says workers will begin gathering from 9am. The actual march is expected to get underway at 10am.
"Plus, minus 4000 participants are expected to march. There will be 400 marshalls. The march is expected to end at 2.30pm. All plans are in place from the city in terms of traffic management and manning the intersections during the march."
