Metro police on standby for any disruptions - Kaunda

It's business as usual in eThekwini on Friday despite threats of a planned shutdown.

That's according to Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda, who says the metro police department is on standby.
There's been uncertainty and anxiety after social media was flooded with posts calling for a nationwide shutdown to protest rising fuel prices.

Kaunda has warned that any demonstration must be lawful and peaceful.
KZN is still reeling from last year's July riots that brought the city to its knees.
The mayor says any unlawful actions might be detrimental to the city's economy, which has suffered multiple blows since 2020.
