Memorial for Shembe Church leader yet to be finalised
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Nazareth Baptist Church says it's still working on the funeral arrangements of its leader whose burial is expected to take place this weekend.
Vela Shembe died last week following a short illness.
He was declared the rightful leader of the four-million member church last October after a leadership battle between him and his nephew saw the matter being settled by the Durban High Court.
Shembe spokesperson, Nkululeko Mthethwa says the large number of people expected at the funeral has delayed their finalisation of plans.
"We haven't confirmed but by the look of things - it will be this Sunday. We are still working around everything. Once government gets involved then we will be able to finalise everything especially the logistics. We are coping although it's tough," he says.
