Meeting with Kaunda ‘waste of time’ - ratepayers association
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The Westville Ratepayers Association says its meeting with the eThekwini mayor was a waste of time.
It was held at the Westville Civic Centre on Thursday night to discuss service delivery issues, which the association says have been ongoing.
The association is among those that have called for a rates boycott.
They handed over a memorandum of demands at the meeting.
The association's Asad Gaffar says Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda failed to acknowledge that they have declared a dispute with the city.
He's also accused the mayor of deflecting from the issues by talking about the city's achievements.
Gaffar says they walked out of the meeting because they felt Kaunda showed no commitment to resolving the problems.
The mayor has promised to give the community feedback within 14 days.
