MECs meet with families of KZN teens hacked to death

The MECs for Social Development and Community Safety have been meeting with the families of two matric pupils who were hacked to death in southern KwaZulu-Natal.
The 18-year-olds Amanda Zulu and Minenhle Buthelezi were attacked at their student accommodation at Ngwagwane Village on Sunday.
The body of one of the victims was found on the property, while the second schoolgirl was found a few kilometres away from the scene.

A 21-year-old suspect was arrested on Sunday.
He escaped from police custody while showing police where he had dumped the second body. He was rearrested later.
The man appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody.

MECs Nonhlanhla Khoza and Peggy Nkonyeni on Wednesday morning met with the victims' schoolmates and teachers at Ginyani Secondary School before meeting with the families of the two teens.
Nkonyeni has called for justice for the teenagers.
"We were very shocked as the government as the government of KwaZulu-Natal, but we wish to appreciate South African Police Service members because the criminal has now been arrested.
"We are hoping that the judicial system will ensure that he will go to jail and stay there for a long time."
