Matrics wrap up 'difficult' paper

It is pens down, as Grade 12s have finished writing their first final exam, English Paper 1.

KZN is aiming to beat last year’s matric pass rate of 81,3%.
Education officials have been adamant they wouldn't lower the bar for the class of 2020 because of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This Grade 12 pupil at Nyonithwele Secondary in PMB says today’s paper was fairly easy but admits limited resources along with COVID-19 has put them in a tight position.

"It was very difficult because we did not have enough resources, like online learning.
"Teachers were able to guide us by splitting us into WhatsApp group chats, but not all learners have access to this," he said.
