‘Mastermind’ nabbed for string of cross-border crimes

A man linked to a string of carjackings along the Kosi Bay border is due to appear in the Manguzi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Vusi Malwane was nabbed in Manguzi, on Tuesday night.
The Department of Transport in KZN says the 44-year-old's arrest is the tip of the iceberg.
Spokesperson Thando Biyela says they will move in on other suspects soon.

She says Malwane's believed to be the mastermind behind these crimes.
"This is a result of the large law enforcement deployments in the area to curb the cross-border crimes."
"The suspect will appear today, Thursday, 11 May 2023, at the Manguzi Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, multiple car hijackings and escaping from prison."
