Massive Transnet diesel spill in Free State
Updated | By Algoa FM
Transnet clean-up teams are dealing with a huge fuel spill in Meul River in the Free State.

It follows the theft of diesel on the pipeline between Durban and Heidelberg.
The state-owned entity says the theft was detected following a drop in pressure on the multi-product pipeline in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Spokesperson Saret Knoetze says their investigators discovered a block valve chamber had been tampered with, resulting in the spillage.
"We subsequently isolated the line and sent the emergency response teams out. The quantum of the stall is currently being determined but it is a huge diesel spillage."
