IFP reiterates call for suspension of fuel levies
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has reiterated its call for government to suspend fuel levies with immediate effect.
The party says the cost of fuel is at its peak and already emptying South Africans' pockets - with more increases on the horizon.
It says the suspension of the levies will bring relief to the South African people and the zero increases of levies will not hurt the government.
IFP's national spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa says they have made the call since 2018 but it has been falling on deaf ears.

"It is our call as the IFP that to help South Africans deal with the burden of increases of fuel prices; the fuel levies must be suspended as a means of mitigating this particular challenge.
"We fundamentally believe that government can afford to do this as a collective interest of all South Africans given the ripple effect that fuel prices have when they go up on the cost of food and commuting."
