Mass water outages, low pressure around Durban
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Umgeni Water says a pipe burst at the Durban Heights Water Treatment Plant has resulted in supply failures in many parts of Durban.

Spokesperson Shami Harichunder says residents in the north, south, central and inner west parts of eThekwini will either have no water or low pressure.
"This morning at about 7 a pipe broke which resulted in Umgeni Water having to take a decision to shut off the reservoir 2 at the Durban Heights Plant. "
"What this means is that Umgeni Water is unable to supply water to eThekwini for reticulation."

Harichunder says their officials are there and working on the problem.
"It is expected that the work will be completed by midnight today, and it will take a few hours for eThekwini to begin supplying water again to consumers in Durban."
