Mass protest threats amid water crisis in Tongaat
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Residents in Tongaat are desperate for a drop of water, taps ran dry four days ago and frustrations are about to boil over.

The water supply was cut on Monday after local reservoirs and pumps malfunctioned.
Fed up communities have now threatened to take matters into their own hands and embark on mass protests, to get answers from officials.

Earlier this year, the same residents were left with no running water for nearly 10 days after heavy rains.
Minority Front ward councillor, Jonathan Annipen says not enough tankers are being sent to the area.
He's been speaking to the municipality about the broken reservoirs.
"The first repair was completed, the second repair is set to take another two days, so that may only be repaired by Saturday. With municipality not providing the necessary support in terms of bringing out tankers and so forth, or even bringing out insufficient tankers."
"It exacerbates the situation because people are at work, children are now at home because the schools are closed. There are many senior citizens who live in the area. They are all being disadvantaged," he said.
