Water supply a priority for KZN government
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Solving KZN’s water challenges is a top priority for government.
Yesterday department MECs, mayors, water boards and experts met in Durban to come up with solutions to the water shortages in parts of the province. Premier Sihle Zikalala revealed that dam levels remain critical.
Places like the Ugu District Municipality where residents have, on numerous occasions, gone months without water for days will be prioritised. Zikalala said the plan is to build structures to store and redirect water.
"In the Ugu district dams that have been affected by water shortages are now improving, although they have not reached full capacity", he said.
"Ugu is one area that is highly affected both along the coast an inland. We are dealing with that matter", Zikalala said.
