Margate mob justice victim recovering in hospital
A KZN South Coast man left in a critical condition by a mob
justice attack in Margate is said to be recovering in hospital.
Medics say he was assaulted by community residents at the Masenenge informal settlement on Sunday.
Members of the community reportedly accused him of murder.
“As per members of the public on scene, it was alleged that an attempt was made to set the man on fire, however this was unsuccessful,” says Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst.

“While on scene, the crowd began to become even more violent, threatening emergency personnel so with the assistance of the South African Police Services, the patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to another location when an advanced life support paramedic could start treating the patient.”
Herbst says the man was then rushed through to hospital.
“Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities who were on scene,” he adds.
