Margate Beach remains closed, Ugu conducts tests
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Ugu District Municipality says its environmental health services officers are working towards determining the source of the contamination at Margate beach on the south coast.
The beach and its lagoon remain closed.
The municipality's Trevor Khanyile says high levels of ecoli were found during routine water quality tests.

Khanyile says they are hopeful the beach will be opened before the weekend.
"It was found that there were unacceptable levels of ecoli in the water which means that the water is not at the right levels for swimming as it can cause a health scare. We continue to run tests. We have found that levels of ecoli are going down. We are hopeful that everything will normalise by Friday," he said.
