Man's body pulled from KwaMakhutha swamp

Police are probing the death of a man whose body was found in a swamp in KwaMakhutha, south of Durban.

Officers from the Durban Search and Rescue Unit, along with their colleagues from eThekwini Metro Police, were called out to recover the man's severely decomposed remains on Friday afternoon.

SAPS spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says they are yet to identify him.

"The decomposed body of an unknown man was found in a swamp near Adams Mission. A case of inquest has been opened at KwaMakhutha SAPS," she said.

"The circumstances surrounding the incident are also being investigated."

Meanwhile, news has come through of a tragic drowning in Amanzimtoti, also south of the city.  A teenage boy's body was found at Pipeline beach on Friday.

"The body of a 14-year-old boy was found near the shoreline," said Mbele.
