Police say this was a second shooting incident at the same home.
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says in June last year, the mother was shot and wounded.
"Armed assailants entered the homestead and opened fire at the 65-year-old father of the house, his 60-year-old wife, their 32-year-old son and a 19-year-old nephew who were all in the same house.
"A neighbour was shot in the leg and is receiving care in hospital, and her son, who was sleeping in a security house survived the shooting.
"The motive of the shooting has not been established as yet."
