Manhunt for Hillbrow Theatre suspect

Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who randomly opened fire on a crowd at the Hillbrow Theatre killing one person and wounding seven others.

Police say the suspect is believed to have jumped onto the stage while a band was performing.
He allegedly grabbed the microphone and threatened to stop the performance unless his stolen cellphone was given back to him.

"When the audience tried to intervene, he fired shots randomly and eight people were shot," reads a statement by the police.
Police have also made an appeal to members of the public with information to come forward.
The seven wounded victims are said to be in a serious condition and are receiving care at a local hospital.
