Man, woman assaulted and shot in Durban central
A murder and attempted murder case has been opened at Umbilo SAPS after a man and a woman was shot in central Durban.
Paramedics responded to the incident at a property on York Avenue in Glenwood on Wednesday night.
They found the two assaulted and shot.
The man was declared dead at the scene.
KZN SAPS spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the motive for the attack is unknown at this stage.
"Reports also indicate that a woman, who was with the deceased, sustained a gunshot injury on her finger and was taken to hospital for medical treatment."
In the north of Durban, an investigation is under way into the fiery death of a motorist.
Netshiunda says emergency services raced to a car that caught alight in Waterloo on Wednesday.
"Police responded to reports of a vehicle which was on fire along the M27 road. After the fire was put off a person was found burnt beyond recognition on the driver's seat. The vehicle had allegedly veered off the road and hit several trees before bursting into flames."
