Man suspected of selling drugs to Durban students to stay in jail

A suspected drug dealer believed to have been supplying university students around Durban is spending another week behind bars.

Remmy Simba appeared before the Durban Magistrate’s Court in Point on Friday.

KwaZulu-Natal Hawks spokesperson, Simphiwe Mhlongo, says the 47-year-old was arrested at South Beach on Thursday.


“He was approached while he was in a vehicle. Police searched it and found drugs classified as crystal meth. They arrested him. He was charged for dealing in drugs.”


Mhlongo says during the search, officers confiscated drugs with a street value of over R200 000.


Simba was remanded in custody and his case postponed to next week Friday.
