A man suspected of killing his girlfriend's three-year-old daughter will appear in the Nongoma Magistrates
Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old man was arrested on Sunday at his home in Verulam, apparently after being on the run for a month.
Police say the suspect and his girlfriend had an argument in Nongoma last month.
It's alleged the man became violent and beat the woman.

He then allegedly took the child and severely assaulted her until she was unconscious.
Police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says the mother and child were taken to a local hospital for medical attention. However, the child succumbed to her injuries.
"When the suspect heard that the child died and that a murder case was opened as well as that police at Nongoma were looking for him, he left the area and went into hiding," says Naicker.
