Man suspected of learner's licence fraud arrested in uMngeni
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
uMngeni Municipality has warned would-be criminals to stay out of the area.
A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to defraud the licencing department.
He was taken into custody at the department on Monday after a staff member thought his behaviour suspicious.
Mayor Chris Pappas says it was discovered that he was using a false name and had planned to write learner's licence test on behalf of someone.

"The Department of Transport and the uMngeni Traffic Department in the province then moved in to apprehend and arrest the individual.
"It was later found that this individual was part of a broader syndicate operating from the Hammersdale area.
"As the uMngeni Municipality, we will continue to fight corruption and root out fraud and welcome this arrest and send this out as a warning to others that uMgeni is not a place for criminals."
