Man stabbed in Umhlanga hotel identified

KZN police have released the identity of the man who was stabbed to death at the Capital Pearls Hotel in Umhlanga on Thursday night.
Police say the 51-year-old man is local doctor, Melvin Naidu.

Police say Naidu was killed during an altercation with a female guest he had earlier booked into a room with.
They say a guest in the next room heard the commotion just before 10pm, and alerted hotel security.
The woman is said to have emerged from the room screaming for help.
Naidu, who was stabbed in the neck was also heard calling for help. He collapsed and died at the scene.
The 31-year-old woman has been arrested, while a case of murder has been opened at the Durban North police station.
In a statement to Newswatch, Capital Hotels and Apartments, which owns the hotel, confirmed the incident and says it's currently assisting authorities with their investigations.
The company has offered its condolences the man's family and friends.
