A taxi owner in his 40s has been arrested on murder charges after a man was shot dead in what appears to have been a road rage incident in Sydenham.

The police's Nqobile Gwala says an argument broke out between the pair after a bakkie and taxi crash in the area yesterday.
"The owner of the taxi arrived at the scene and an argument started between the driver of the bakkie and the taxi owner. The driver of the bakkie attempted to grab the taxi owner's firearm and the taxi owner managed to take his firearm and fired a shot towards the driver," Gwala said.
Rescue Care paramedics attended the scene on Waterfall Road.
"One man had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was in a critical condition and despite advance life support paramedics attempting to resuscitate him - his injuries were too severe. He passed away on the scene," spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson said.
