Man shot dead in parking lot of Umhlanga Ridge shopping centre

A man has been shot dead at a shopping mall on the Umhlanga Ridge, north of Durban.
The man, believed to be in his thirties, was gunned down in the undercover parking area of Gateway Theatre of Shopping near the gym entrance this morning.

Police and emergency services are still busy at the scene.Photos show part of the parking area cordoned off with yellow police tape.
Officers say the man is believed to be involved in the tow trucking industry.
The victim's family members began arriving at the scene shortly after the incident. Some cried uncontrollably when they heard what happened.
A large contingent of tow truck drivers also gathered near the parking area.
Initial indications are that the man was gunned down while walking to his vehicle after leaving the gym.

"On arrival, a man was found deceased, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. At this stage, the motive for the shooting is unknown. The scene was secured and handed over to the police for further investigation and processing," said Van Reenen.
