Man killed in Shaka's Head train accident

A man's been killed after he was hit by a train near Shakas Head on KZN's north coast.

Emergency services say the man had allegedly been crossing the tracks on his way to work this morning. 

"IPSS Medical Rescue were called out to the railway tracks running through the informal settlement in the early hours of this morning. It's believed the man tried to cross the railway tracks on this way to work when he got knocked by a train. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on paramedics arrival," Herbst said.

Herbst says this morning's incident is the second train accident involving a pedestrian in the area this week.

"A gentleman on the same railway was also knocked. He suffered critical injuries and was transported to hospital by provincial services," Herbst said.
