Woman hit by train south of Durban

A woman has escaped serious injury after being hit by a train in Winklespruit near Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.

Emergency services say the woman was found lying in a puddle of water next to the tracks this morning.
ER24's Ineke van Huyssteen says the 23-year-old has been taken to hospital.
"The woman sustained moderate injuries to her leg. Paramedics helped treat her at the scene before taking her to the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital for further care. The exact cause of the incident is still unknown," she said.

Van Huyssteen says authorities were on scene and will investigate the matter further.
